GOVERNMENT HOUSE.

HONG KONG. 6th May, 1930.

I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of

Your Lordship's despatch No.46 of the 19th of February, 1930,

forwarding a copy of a League of Nations Document relative to

seizures of opium at Vancouver and St. John, N.B.

2.

With regard to the case of Lee Kee mentioned on

the last page of the document, from the few particulars supplied

nothing can be discovered in this Colony in regard to the Choi

Wah Co., which is said to have sent the parcel containing the

opium to Lee Kee. As the packet was apparently transmitted by

unregistered book post no particulars in regard to it are on

record in the Post Office.

3.

With regard to the rubber-stamp mark on the book,

there is a firm styled "Man Bow Sing" at 13 Des Voeux Road West,

second floor, in this Colony, but there is no evidence that this

firm was the sender in the present instance or even that it is

identical with the "Man Bow Sing" whose mark was on the book. No

trace has been found of any firm styled "Man Bow Sing" in Bonham

Strand.

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE

I have the honour to be,

My Lord,

Your Lordship's most obedient,

humble servant,

W.D. Southoth.

Officer Administering the Government.

LORD PASSFIELD,
